Winter in the Stubaital

“To appreciate the beauty of a snowflake,

it is necessary to stand out in the cold.”

– Aristotle

Skiing

The Stubaital offers not one, but four ski resorts. Each one has its own unique strong points. Thanks to the Stubai Glacier we can guarantee snow from October to May.

Elferbahnen

In Neustift you will find the Elferbahnen, the perfect ski resort for beginners and families. In addition to the three downhill slopes, you will also find numerous alpine pastures and huts on the slopes, where you can enjoy refreshments when you stop for a break.

Schlick 2000 Ski Center

Fulpmes is home to the Schlick 2000 Ski Center with a wide variety of slopes, rustic huts, alpine pastures, and a unique view of the surrounding mountains. You can expect 19 slopes at different levels of difficulty, a kid section for the little ski stars and a perfectly functioning infrastructure.

Serles

The Serles winter wonderland is the third ski resort in the bunch and is located in Mieders, at the entrance to the Stubaital. The Serles resort is also perfect for families, beginners, and people who are getting back into skiing. Regardless of whether you prefer tobogganing, skiing, snowboarding, or winter hiking, you will definitely get your money’s worth here.

Tobogganing

You will already find the first toboggan run in the immediate vicinity of the Ausserwieserhof. You can reach it easily on foot.

On our local mountain, the Elfer, you will find the longest, snow-covered and illuminated toboggan runs in Tyrol. Two to three times a week you have the opportunity to attempt a rapid descent under the starry sky on the Pinnistal family toboggan run. During the day we recommend the Elfer-Dorf toboggan run. After an 8 km (5 miles) long descent, it will bring you directly back to Neustift. And maybe you will dare to attempt the next descent right away.

Ski tour

If you go on a ski tour, you can experience nature in a completely new way. Enjoy the landscape in all its facets and take in the amazing panorama and the fresh mountain air. Stubai offers a great range of routes, both around the glacier and at Serles- and Elferbahnen.

Elferbahnen

You can enjoy a tour from the valley station up to the Elferhütte restaurant or you can start directly in front of our house.

Milderaunalm alpine meadow

From the parking lot Oberegg via the toboggan run up to the alpine meadow.

Serlesbahnen

This tour leads from the valley station via the Wassertal valley up to the Ochsenhütte restaurant.

Winter hiking

Hiking is a traditional sport for the summer? This has not been true in the Stubaital for a long time. Over 80 km (50 miles) of cleared and marked winter hiking trails are just waiting to be discovered by you. And the best thing about it is that several hikes start right outside our front door.

Neustift – Schaller

From the leisure center you head into the valley along the lakeside path to Mieders. From there you follow the hiking trail to the marked winter hiking trail, which then leads you directly to Schaller.

Neustift – Gröbenhof

This winter hiking trail starts only a few steps from the Ausserwieserhof and leads you through the valley to the Gröbenhof restaurant. The Seestüberl is located directly on the route and offers you a great place to stop for refreshments.

Schlicker Runde

For those who want to go higher, we recommend the Schlicker Runde. It starts at the Fronebene middle station and takes you for about 1 hour through the valley floor to the Schlickeralm meadow.

Cross-country skiing

The Nordic sport is becoming more and more popular. Cross-country skiing allows you to truly appreciate and experience nature. Breathe in the crystal-clear mountain air and let yourself drift through the valley. The Ausserwieserhof is the perfect starting point for a round on the surrounding cross-country skiing trails, because the entrance is right in front of our house.

Moosrunde

The Moosrunde cross-country ski trail is located directly in front of our house and leads over a distance of 2.8 km (1.7 miles) to Neder and back.

Neustift – Doadleralm

The valley cross-country ski trail is one of the longest and leads from Neustift to Neder, via the valley stations of the Elferbahnen, Milders and Volderau to Falbeson. From there it goes back to Neustift.
